Fashion Advice for Ladies’ Handbags

Women’s handbags come in a variety of styles, colors, designs, and looks. These bags are often made from materials such as nylon, animal skin, leather, and cloth. You can get handbags in a variety of types as well.
There are basically six different handbag styles out there: the Satchel, the Duffle, the Tote, the Sling, the Clutch, and the Messenger bag. All of these bags are unique and have their own appeal, depending on the purpose.

The Clutch handbag is long, rectangular, yet small. It lacks a handle and is usually reserved for evening outings. Many times, the Clutch will come in a variety of styles and materials. Many socially “elite” women prefer Clutches because they are the perfect complement to evening outings and parties.
The Duffle handbag is perfect for any sort of sport use or travel. It’s commonly called the gym bag or the “kit bag.” Military personal and athletes will often use the Duffle as a sort of “travel” bag.

The Satchel handbag is a somewhat large bag with a very small handle that’s carried on the arm as opposed to the shoulder. It’s used to carry small, hard items like books. It has straps that go over the shoulder and across the body. The Satchel handbag is primarily used by students.

The Tote handbag is usually medium or large in size. It often has two straps and is used to carry everyday, run-of-the-mill items like books. It’s normally made out of heavy pebbled leather, treated canvas, or nylon material and divided into several sections.

The Messenger bag has a long strap that crosses the body and is usually made of synthetic or natural cloth material. It’s used by bicycle messengers in less urban areas, but in major metropolises it’s considered quite a fashion item.

The Sling handbag comes with a long strap. It can look like a Messenger bag, though it’s a bit smaller. The Sling bag is worn over one shoulder with a single strap that twists and winds around the chest; the bag ends up resting on the lower contours of the back. In the past, sling bags were very popular with teens and younger, working adults.

This is a breakdown of the various types of handbags out there. Each handbag serves a different purpose, be it utility or fashion; many major fashion companies (Louie Vuitton) Gucci, Prada, etc)make fashionable and highly sought after versions of each bag. What handbag you want depends on what you are trying to accomplish.
